Jubilee Hall Trust awards first staff sports/charity bursary

The first recipient of the new Jubilee Hall Trust Bursary is long-serving GP Referral Specialist, Liz Velji from the Armoury. Liz will be visiting Nepal in October to work alongside other volunteers with Habitat for Humanity Nepal to help rebuild some of the homes devastated by the earthquakes in April and May this year. The disaster killed 8,500 people, injured many more and destroyed or damaged 500,000 houses.

Liz said: ‘ We hope to not just be building homes, but to positively affect – at least in a small part – the lives of the local community. Because after all…’Home is where the heart is.’’

Liz will use the £200 award from JHT to contribute towards the equipment she needs for the challenge.

The Sports/Charity Bursary is available to all employees with more than 2 years service, to help them to train for or participate in physical activity challenges and events, to improve their fitness and health and/or raise money for good causes. The award can be put towards entry fees, travel, accommodation, equipment, coaching or charitable sponsorship and must be matched by a contribution from the employee.
