Temporary relocation: 16 July 2018 – 4 January 2019

What is happening?

Major mechanical and electrical engineering works will be taking place in the basement of 1 Canon Row from 16 July 2018 – 4 January 2019 as part of the Canon Row Refurbishment project. As a result the services provided in the Westminster Gym will be temporarily relocated for this period in order to allow the safe completion of the works with minimal disruption to gym members. Once the works are completed the gym will reopen in Canon Row with new gym equipment.

What gym services will be provided during this time?

Parliament and Westminster Gym remain committed to promoting active and healthy lifestyles and for the duration of the works will provide the following services across three locations on the estate to parliamentary pass holders:

  • Richmond House – the current gym equipment, machines and a spinning studio will move to the ground floor of Richmond House. Classes will be held in the Cathedral Room. Male and female showers, toilets, changing rooms and lockers will be available but no towel service. Opening hours will be 7am-7pm Monday to Friday.
  • 7 Millbank – classes will be held in Conference Room E on the ground floor. Showers and toilets will be available but no towel service. An updated timetable of classes will be published shortly.
  • Portcullis House – a physiotherapy treatment room will be available as required.

As usual, all Westminster Gym staff and instructors will be on hand to provide assistance and personal training sessions.

While the gym services are relocated the price of a monthly membership will be reduced. All peak members will also be given access to Greenwich Leisure Limitedgyms. Class passes and pay as you go passes will continue to be available. If you are an annual member, you will also benefit from the price reduction. Members paying on Direct debit will see their collection amount reduced from the 1stof August. Please contact Club Manager, Anna, for more information on membership rates during this period.

How do I access the new locations?

The front entrance to 7 Millbank will be fully accessible during this period.

The entrance to Richmond House is at the back of the building, within the secure perimeter of the estate. It is not currently possible to enter Richmond House via Whitehall. Entry will be through Derby Gate or via Portcullis House to the northern estate. Please see this mapfor further details about how to access Richmond House.

Unfortunately, as the gym services will be relocated to working areas of the estate (unlike Canon Row which has a separate entrance), due to security restrictions not all passholders will be able to access Westminster Gym during this period (for example pink passholders).

How do I find out more?

Staff from Westminster Gym will be in Portcullis House this week as part of Mental Health Awareness Week and will be happy to answer questions about the relocation or discuss membership options with you. You can find them at the stand by the Despatch Box from Monday 14 May to Friday 18 May.
