Jubilee Hall Trust celebrates Staff 'Oscar' winners

On Friday 17th May, Jubilee Hall Trust celebrated our annual Staff Oscars at Salsa Bar, accompanied by our sponsored athlete, Team GB triple-jumper, Nathan Fox, and our guest speaker, former Newcastle United footballer and award-winning author Paul Ferris.
The Simone Esther Welds Personal Trainer award, was won by Ahmed Mohamud who works at the Westminster Gym. All of the finalists received several outstanding nominations, but one of Ahmed’s showed how important a good trainer can be:
‘Since training with Ahmed, I have lost 12 stone in weight, am now in the “ideal” BMI category for my height, and fitness is part of my everyday life. I can run a 5k like it’s nothing. Absolutely none of this would have been possible without Ahmed’s guidance, encouragement and friendship. I left my job and the Westminster Gym after 3 years, but in many ways I left a completely different person – healthier physically and mentally. My life was put on a much better course and I can safely say that Ahmed is a friend for life, and I will be forever grateful for what he has helped me achieve.’
The award was kindly presented on behalf of Simone’s family by Chrissie Mullings-Lewis.
Winner of the Class Teacher of the Year award was Alex Turton. Alex got numerous nominations from members, and comments repeatedly mentioned that his classes were ‘accessible and inclusive’, and that ‘he is friendly and approachable and always willing to give tailored advice’.
Annamaria Bodzas was the Runner-Up for Staff Member of the Year. With nominations in multiple categories, she attracted comments such as ‘dedicated, passionate and professional’. One team member said ‘she is literally in the club 24/7 either training herself or training someone else. A true professional always goes above and beyond.’
Winner of the Staff Member of the Year, was Daniel Hearn. Daniel received more than 30 nominations from both members and staff, which included comments such as: ‘This person has grown over the years he has been with Jubilee Hall, and has developed into the face of the gym everybody knows and loves,’ and ‘he should win for being the most welcoming, helpful and kind person. He’s always got a smile on and happy to help. He’s made my transition over to a new gym a much less daunting experience.’
Many congratulations to all of our award winners!
