Jubilee Hall Trust reach three finals in the Active Westminster awards!
27th October 2014
After hundreds of nominations and weeks of deliberation by the judges, the names of the finalists for the Active Westminster awards have been released. These annual awards celebrate the very best of community sport and physical activity in the City of Westminster, and the winners will be announced at a celebration event on Friday 28th November at Lord’s cricket ground and the awards presented by Team GB long jumper, Jade Johnson and World and Olympic cycling champion, Dani King MBE.
Jubilee Hall gym in Covent Garden is a finalist in the Active Place category with the nomination citing their concessionary membership scheme, free classes for the over 60’s, and GP Exercise on Referral scheme as well as a range of community outreach programmes. The Trust itself has been named in the Physical Activity Health & Wellbeing category for their work with St Clement Danes primary school incorporating the Movband wearable fitness technology, as well as their championing of the Big Dance Bus in the summer.
Long-time exercise class instructor, personal trainer and charity fundraiser Chrissie Mullings-Lewis is a finalist for Coach/Active Champion of the Year. Chrissie has been teaching exercise classes at Jubilee Hall for almost 30 years and was described by one supporter as ‘an inspirational instructor’. In her spare time, Chrissie has also organised an annual run in aid of the British Heart Foundation for the last 16 years, raising tens of thousands of pounds for the charity.
