This Girl Can: Bridget's story
29th January 2016
Everyday in our gyms we have the privilege of being a part of individual transformations and quests for healthier lifestyles. Sometimes these stories are too uplifting to not share.
Today I met Bridget who inspired me with her enthusiasm and passion, and I’m sharing her story in hopes to inspire others as well.
51 year old Bridget from Crowthorne was at our Jubilee Hall gym today, in London today especially to attend a training course offered by Lifetime Training as part of her new goal in life to become a fitness instructor. One year ago, Bridget’s good friend – a healthy and fit friend – passed away suddenly. Bridget was shocked and had a moment of “divine inspiration” when she realised that she was “sitting on the couch, eating crap, and not taking care of her body,” and she needed to make a change. Her husband encouraged her to join a gym. 8 months later, she had lost 25 lbs and was feeling energetic and like a new person thanks to the supportive staff and trainers at her gym.
Bridget had such a personal transformation, in fact, that 6 months into her new-found love of fitness, she made a commitment to change careers from administrative work and become a fitness instructor to encourage others on their own journeys.
Bridget says that her husband and adult children have been critical to her transformation. Her kids have all told her how proud they are of her for taking control of her health and fitness, and taking the dive into a new career path. Hearing her grown children tell her they are proud gives her the encouragement she needs to push harder and dig deeper.
This is what building healthier communities is all about.
I hope to attend one of Bridget’s Fit Step classes some day! I have no doubt she will rock it.
Well done, Bridget.
