ukactive announces FLAME finalists!

ukactive has unveiled the finalists for the Flame Awards 2017, which sees public, private and third sector heavyweights lock horns for the physical activity sector’s most prestigious accolades.
Jubilee Hall trust is delighted to be included in the finalists for the Healthy Partnerships award for our ‘Run For Your Life’ programme! Our second annual fun run series took place last September on Hampstead Heath and included 2k, 5k and 10k options so that everyone could join in. And they did! Participants ranged in age from just 5 years old to 74, and more women than men took part.
225 runners signed up for the races, which were started by local celebrity and former Team GB middle distance runner, David Bedford. The weather stayed dry and the temperature was almost perfect for running on the hilly trail course.  More than 51% of participants were local Camden residents and, whilst only 35% met the current Chief Medical Officer’s guidelines of completing at least 150 minutes of physical activity per week, more than 97% said that they would continue running after the event.
The Flame Awards will take place on 28th June at the International Conference Centre in Telford as part of a significantly expanded Conference format for 2017.
ukactive Executive Director Steven Ward said:
“Flame remains a leading event for the physical activity sector but in our pursuit of continued evolution for the industry, we have revamped this year’s event to be bigger, more informative and varied than ever.
“This brings together expert insight and workshops on some of the burning issues and fresh challenges faced by our sector in a fast changing landscape, particularly at site level.
“Meanwhile, the quality of all finalists and the intensity of competition between them ensures the Awards night will be a blockbuster finale to Flame. I wish the best of luck to all those vying for an award.”
